License Plates Preamble Display
I created this License Plate Preamble display years ago-one of those great ideas that never quite gets finished. But with our big 5th grade Celebrate America musical next week, I thought it would be the perfect bulletin board display in our hallway to welcome parents to the classroom!
These fun license plates, representing all 50 states as well as Washington D.C., spell out the Preamble to the Constitution phonetically. Each license plate can be cut out individually and hung on the display, or given to students to put in order as a game. I used a spray adhesive to make the backs of each license plate tacky, eliminating the need for staples and making it much easier to move them around if needed.
I created the banner with my Silhouette Cameo machine, although the entire session was a disaster. The paper slid on my cutting mat, I forgot my transfer paper, the masking tape I used instead stuck a little too well to the paper, and the letters didn’t want to stay glued to the paper. After a lot of blood, sweat and chocolate, it was finished!
My display is about 3.5 feet high, including the banner. Diane from Fifth in the Middle created a more vertical display with her pieces.
