Surviving Pen Pals
When I think about classroom activities that I love in theory, but that are high maintenance in reality, pen pals rises to the top of the list.
For some reason, the kids never remember the names of their pen pal and I can never find the list of partners. When the kiddos write their letters, I always wish I had cute paper, but never think ahead to get it. When the letters are written and FINALLY collected, I can never find the mailing address of the partner school.
What I need is pen pal Organization, with a capital O. Soooo I created this Pen Pal Survival Kit to use this year. I made blackline stationary for the entire year, with borders that match the month we’ll be writing in (2 styles per month). I even made a 1-page style, and a 2-page style so I can up my students’ writing stamina as the year progresses.
There’s a document to write in the class lists and the mailing address.
There is even a graphic organizer to help my kiddos with the dreaded ‘I don’t know what to write about’ issue. There are four brainstorming areas to get them started.
I’m on this year! We’re going to be pen pals with my former teammate back in Michigan AND we’re taking part in the Global Glitter Tribe international classroom exchange. Pen pals just got a whole lot more manageable. Need help organizing your pen pal situation? Grab the set here!
